Share Your Story: My First Camera - About Photography Readers Remember Their First Cameras

Every photographer, pro or amateur, has a first (or early) camera that they remember fondly. For me, it was a Pentax K1000. I bought the camera with money from my first after school job when I was in high school. I knew absolutely nothing about cameras. With $100 I got my mother to take me to Service Merchandise and I picked out the K1000. I didn't realize until I got outside that lenses were purchased separately. My mother, thankfully, went back and bought a lens for me. I still have that K1000 tucked away in a closet for safekeeping.
