Tell Us the Story of Your Camera
When I was 7, my mother gave my father a Canon AE-1 for Christmas. This was the camera on which I learned to take pictures. My father taught me center the needle by changing shutter speed to get the exposure right and so nearly all of my pictures were taken at F5.6. I was 14 before I realized that I could shorten the DoF by selecting lower apertures at higher shutter speeds.
I took hundreds of pictures with that camera when I became the family vacation photographer (when my father got the new VHS camcorder).
I know this is not one of the best cameras ever made, but it made photography accessible to me as a child and hooked me for life.
Advice
- Don't wait forever on a camera that will have every feature. Pick a lens family (Canon, Nikon, Sony etc.) and get the camera that will get you out shooting.
