Photo Description

Entry #1 A Boy And His Art. Our City Cultural Center was having a Gallery open house and I stopped into the Children's Gallery to watch the children creating different mediums of art. I came across this boy painting and had brought my camera with me. As he was painting his paper came off on one side. Here he is adjusting it back on the board. I love this photograph because I was able to use my creative tool, the camera, to capture another person using his creative tools the brush, paint and paper. Learning art started much the same way for me as a child so I had great fun watching the children being given that same opportunity at creativity.

Tips and Tricks

  • Take the camera everywhere you can and ask permission to take pictures when you first enter to visit a public or privately owned place. You may need a property release for some places to be able to take pictures so have the model and property release forms with you.

Requested Critique: This image is very strong overall. It has good composition with the boy placed on a rule of thirds line and plenty of room left for the jumbled colors to show. The boy does seem just a touch out of focus on his head but overall the image works well.
