Photo Description

Entry 1

This photo was taken at the Ice Lakes in Mountain Top, PA, on a beautiful spring afternoon. At certain angles of sunlight, "diamonds" dance on the water. This lucky duck is headed right in their direction.

I used a Nikon D700, lens AF-S Nikkor 70-300mm 1:4.5-5.6 G. Settings were: Aperture priority, Shutter 1/1000, f/5.6, focal length 300mm, ISO speed 200.

Minor cropping and editing.

Tips and Tricks

  • This is one of my favorite photos.
  • Photography allows us to freeze a moment in time for posterity that can never be captured again. Through the photograph, we can relive that moment over and over.
  • Photography helps us to better understand the beauty (and the ugliness) of the world that surrounds us.
  • A simple photograph can evoke an entire range of emotions. It can bring tears of laughter or tears of sorrow. One cannot merely just "look at a picture." There is always a response.
