Old Fire Station Windows

Photo Description

Entry #2 Old Fire Station Windows: This picture is from an old Fire Station that was built in Greensboro, NC, downtown in 1926 and is on the National Register of Historic Places. It is a really neat old building but for some reason I liked the look of these old windows in the corner facing a fading winter sun, the old bricks and pealing paint in different places. The light and shadows and leading trim from the end of the building caught my eye.

Advice

  • When something just catches your eye, shoot it. Even if it does not make sense at the time. :)
  • 1/250, f 5.0, ISO 100

Liz Masoner, Photography Guide, says:

Requested critique: This image has nice exposure and tonal range with create details on the brick and window edges. The main issue is the wall partially obscuring the base of the windows. Combined with the left window the wall creates a leading line that just pulls the eye away from the windows and out the right side of the frame. Perhaps a different angle could have helped reduce the distraction from the windows.
