When and where was the photo taken?

DeLeon Springs Florida, June 20th?? 2010.

Photo Description

A Cyprus tree with lots of Spanish moss. One of my favorite photos from my vacation this year. We seen this tree while on a boat cruise on the lake at DeLeon Springs Florida. The Spanish moss looks dead but is actually very much alive and growing continuously. The water in the lake is very black looking when you are on top of the water due to the fact that the Cyprus tree produces tannic acid in the water thus rendering it non-reflective causing it to look black to the human eye. Yet if you dip out a cup of the water it is actually crystal clear.

Advice

  • Look for color contrasts
  • Center the subject in the frame but be sure to get as much sky as possible to allow for color variations.
  • Keep the sun at your back.
