February Entry for 2011 Calendar Contest Part I. Old Mill Gates and Pumphouse. The Old Mill of Guilford is one of our favorite historical places to visit being originally built in 1767. The current mill was moved up the creek in 1801 and is the original working grist mill that we go to get flour, steel cut oats and many other stone ground natural foods. This is a picture of the original old wheel gates that swing open to go down to the creek running behind the mill with the pumphouse seen on the other side. I always bring my camera as there is something of interest to shoot every time I go.
Advice
- Bring you camera everywhere. I have learned to go to the mill at a certain time to get the sun in the right position to shoot out there.
