Entry #2: Axl's Birthday At The Zoo. Axl and Kisa are the two sibling tigers at our Zoo. They have been here 3 years on this date which is also their 6th year Birthday. The Zoo had a Birthday party for them with a special "meat" cake and packages for them to play with and open. Children were invited to make tiger masks and sign huge Birthday cards for them. It was a fun day for the children the day before they went back to school. I waited until the crowd thinned to shoot these two as they had mellowed out some by then. Here I caught Axl, the male tiger, in the pool enjoying the water. I was trying to capture his reflection when he was still enough for a minute.
Advice
- Our Zoo is fairly new and surrounded by chain link fences. This makes it hard to capture a natural looking shot of the animals and you shoot through glass enclosures that are sometimes dirty making it hard to find a clean spot. When there are obstacles, challenge yourself to keep trying different settings and spots and most of all enjoy the fun of trying.
