Entry#2: Bluebird Watching Out For His Brood: This male Bluebird was watching out for the safety of the female Bluebird to bring food to the brood of four that had hatched. Here he is watching me. His Father occupied our Bluebird house last year and through looking at photos of the Father last year I was amazed to find almost the same markings. I have really enjoyed having them back and being able to photograph their habits. The white markings on his chest are pin feathers (new feathers beginning to come in), which means he is in his first year molt, which also helps confirm his birth last August 2009.
Advice
- Birds are not still, so I kept shooting and adjusting the settings until I began to get the photos I was hoping for.
