August 2009Photo Description
This is a shot of a dragon fly taken with my Olympus E510 on which was mounted an old Vivitar 100-300mm zoom lens (using my $15 from eBay ring adapter). On the E510 this is the equivalent of 200mm-600mm. This picture was taken at 300mm, f5.8 1/160th. It was hand held to boot, so it's a pretty good testament to the image stabilization's ability.Tips and Tricks
* Whenever I have a challenging hand-held shot to make, like this one, it is very important to try to keep relaxed during the shooting. I usually make the shot while gently exhaling. * I find it is also a good idea to set the camera up for continuous shooting because then you can fire off a lot of shots with one shutter button press and at least one image should have minimum shake visible. * How you hold the camera is very important too. Left hand under the lens supporting it. Straps wrapped around the hands.
