My Review 

The National zoo is a wonderful zoo to visit. The pandas, on loan from China, are a main attraction. The zoo is set in a lovely part of Northwest DC and is free to all visitors (parking can be a challenge, though). It is also right at a metro stop.

There is also a small children's zoo within the national zoo, which is perfect for preschoolers and young kids.

Don't miss the monkey/ape house!

Types of cages at the zoo 

Open range enclosure, glass viewing.

Animal Environments 

Many of the animals are in natural style environments, including the pandas.

Health and Activity of the Animals 

Some of the animals look lethargic, but that could be just the hot weather. Some of the animals are healthy and active-looking, especially the pandas, great apes and sea otters.
