Finalist Image by Jenn08Carter for Assignment 37 - Macro

This image is an excellent example of how to take a "near-macro" image without a macro lens. Here the photographer resisted the urge to move in closer than the camera could focus properly. The sharp focus on the eye and eyelashes against the solid color of the skin help to further focus attention on the eye. The eye being slightly offset in the image helps it to feel natural as we are used to seeing eyes to the side, not centered, when we look at faces.
