Winner and Finalists of Assignment #17 - Cold

This image uses a low angle of view and a nice contrast between the frozen shadows and the thawed background to evoke a very tangible sense of cold. The composition is very good with the cold areas occupying the foreground and right side of the image (traditionally a stronger position) and the thawed background occupying the upper left of the image (a weaker position). The blue tint to the ice also helps to evoke the cold feeling.
