The Bottom Line

Verbatim PhotoSave DVD is a nice solution for casual photographers looking to archive images. If you are uncomfortable around computers but need them to access your digital photos, Verbatim PhotoSave will be a big help to you. If you have a lot of large file size images, Verbatim PhotoSave will probably be too expensive to archive your entire collection although it is still very useful for smaller archive jobs. This backup system is also great for family members who constantly ask for help finding their photos. This is something you'll want to send them on the next gift-giving occasion...or sooner.

Guide Review - Review of Verbatim PhotoSave DVD

Verbatim is not the first manufacturer to come up with this type of photo archive system. HP SimpleSave Photo came out months earlier but it is nice to have the option of another brand.

Operation of Verbatim PhotoSave DVD is as simple as placing the DVD in your DVD burner drive and waiting. The program is slow to load but once it opens itself it will guide you through the process of saving your photos in simple steps. It can grab every image on your computer or as few images as you like. Again, this is something you will most likely want to give computer-illiterate relatives to whom you email images over and over again because they can't find the first 12 emails.

Each Verbatim PhotoSave DVD holds around 2,000 images at an average file size of 2MB each. Note that many cameras on the market today use file sizes much larger than 2MB so you are likely to get significantly fewer images per disk. They are available in packs of 3 and 5, with each disk in a slim hard case.
