Best Twitter Photography Accounts to Follow

By , About.com Guide

Sometimes trying to find a specific account on Twitter feels like wandering through a supermarket with all the labels removed from the cans.  Trying trying to find great photography Twitter feeds is equally frustrating.  This list contains some of my favorite Twitter photography feeds to follow.

1. Your Camera Brand

Whatever brand camera you shoot with, follow that feed first.  This is a great way to keep up to date on promotions, coupons, recalls, and new products.  It can also be a great way to get help quickly with a problem when normal customer service channels fail.

@canon_cameras
@pentaxian  (and follow their president @nedbunnell as well)
@nikon_USA

2. Your Favorite Photo Editing Software

For the same reasons as following your camera brand, following the tweets of your favorite photo editing software will help you stay in the loop...and get great editing tips.

@photoshop
@corelsoftware

3. WTDComics

@WTDComics is the feed for What the Duck by Aaron Johnson. This is a must for your daily laugh, a comic series all about photographers and photography.

4. NPPA

@NPPA is The National Press Photographers Association feed and is a fabulous one to follow if you want to know the news before it hits the main media outlets as well as all the latest on photojournalism.

5. Photo District News

@PDNOnline is the feed for Photo District News and their tagline says it all: "PDN: Breaking news about photography for photographers"

6. Scott Kelby

@ScottKelby is the feed for Scott Kelby, Photoshop guru and generally all around cool photog. Plus he's the creator of the World Wide Photowalk - 'nuff said.

7. PhotoJack

@photojack is the feed for Jack Hollingsworth, pro photographer and consistently active on Twitter.  He posts lots of great links to his own ideas as well as others from a wide pool of sources.

8. NASA HQ Photo

@nasahqphoto is the feed for NASA's photo department.  Lots of publicity photos related to the space agency but also links to amazing space photos.

9. Twitographers

@twitographers is a feed that is a great grab bag of retweets from photographers all around Twitter. Fabulous way to find new feeds and just generally see what is going on the wider community.

10. About Photography

@photo_guide is the feed for About.com Photography of course! Tons of photo lessons, links to photography news, and the occasional rant at copyright infringers or photo hosting companies trying to grab photo rights from users.
