Photography Crafts - How to Make A Photo Thank You Note© Liz Masoner licensed to About.com, Inc.
What fun is taking a ton of photos at your child's next birthday party, or a sister's baby shower, or a wedding if you don't get to use the photos? It only takes a little planning and a few minutes to make a photo thank you note. Photo thank you notes are a great way to personalize your thank you notes and remind the recipient of the event as well.
Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: 10 minutes

Here's How:

  1. Plan Ahead - When taking photographs for a thank you note you'll need room for the text. When photographing the event be sure to snap some shots with plenty of "empty" room for writing later on.
  2. Select Your Photo - Your photo does not have to be a fabulous image. Just pick a photo that shows something about the event itself and has room for text. The example photo is from a bowling birthday party.
  3. Resize Your Photo - 4"x6" images make nice thank you notes. You could also resize your image to 4"x8" and have it printed at your local photo processor.

  4. Add the Text - Almost any photo editing program allows you to add text to your image. Simply select the text tool (usually looks like a capital "T"), click where you want the text to show up, and start typing.
  5. Edit the Text - After adding your text you might want to consider adding some effects to the text. 3D buttons, shadows, color, and embossing are all common effects that can be easily added in most photo editing programs.
  6. Print the Card - Once you are done you can print the card on your home printer or send it to a lab for printing. Either way, a custom thank you note will be a welcome reminder of your event for all your guests.
