Top 5 Sites to Play With Your Photos

By , About.com Guide

Even serious photographers like to have a little fun now and again. This list of the top 5 sites to play with your photos is sure to have you laughing in no time!

1. PicArtia

Picartia.com lets you easily create mosaic images from your files. Mosaic photos are photos created from many smaller photos. The only downside to this site is that the smaller images are from pre-selected galleries rather than allowing you to upload your own images to create the larger image. Still, the effect is very compelling and best of all, PicArtia does it for free!

2. CreateHDR

CreateHDR is a free online service that lets you easily create a HDR-similar image. I say similar rather than "real" because to create a completely accurate HDR image you need more than one image so that all tonal ranges are captured. CreateHDR does create some very nice images however and its fun to see just how much you can alter your image. Be prepared for those annoying "pop-up" text ads however as they are rampant on the site.

3. Rollip

Rollip.com gives us a chance to recapture the feel of Polaroid imagery even though the film is gone. There are several variations on the traditional Polaroid look and images can be produced with or without the familiar Polaroid edging.

4. MyHeritage

MyHeritage face recognition area is a lot of fun to play with but you need to have a thick skin to see some of the results! MyHeritage scans facial features on submitted images and compares it to celebrity images. The results can then be collaged or a morph can be created. The site does require free registration and there are some very annoying "offers" to click through before you reach your results when you first register.

5. Big Huge Labs

Big Huge Labs flickr toys is a great combination of many types of photo fun. From puzzles to pop art renditions to a badge maker, this site has plenty to keep you busy for hours! My favorite has to be the cube option though. This lets you pick 6 images and then print a template with folding directions for turning the set into a 3-dimensional cube.
