For this assignment we worked on telling stories with sets of images.

Please feel free to add your own images in the forum as well. We have a lot of amazing people as members in our forum and we would love for you to join us! Also, have an ongoing photo of the week competition with winners pulled from the photo sharing area.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the group holding photographers Nigel Brennan, Amanda Lindhout, and Abdifatah Mohammed Elmi (who was working as their translator on the trip) are communicating. The family of Mr. Elmi, who is a native of Somalia, told the National Union of Somali Journalists that the kidnappers had contacted them. Negotiations are reportedly underway for their release but the end of the situation is not expected to be quick. Kidnap victims in Somalia that are released are still often held for weeks or months.

Summer may be almost over officially but its still hot! To help us cool off, September's fun photography assignment will be water. Still water, moving water, muddy water. Whatever water you chose to photograph, make the water the subject. Of course you can have other items in the image, but water should be the main focus.

Remember when composing your images to keep in mind the basics - the rule of thirds, shutter speed, aperture, depth of field, and exposure.

Things to Remember
Read over the rules for details on posting your entries, image size requirements, and helpful hints. Entries MUST comply with these rules to be valid.
The deadline for this contest will be at 10PM Eastern time on September 15th.
Images MUST be taken during the contest period (Sept 1 - Sept 15).
Assignment winners will be announced September 19th.
In addition to the winner and up to 8 finalists posted in the winner's gallery, I will also be selecting several images each contest for additional critiques to be posted in the entry thread.
