Photography Assignment 37 - Macro
Sunday November 16, 2008
Our 37th photography assignment is a learning assignment. This time we are going to examine macro photography. "True" macro photography means to record a subject at a magnification that creates a life-size image on the negative/digital sensor. This means that if you were to photograph a coin, the negative image (not the print) and the coin could be laid side-by-side and be the same size. However, in common usage, macro photography has come to mean any image that is a high magnification image of a small object because many times the print of these subjects turns out larger than the subject itself (even though the negative image is smaller than the subject). Micro photography, photographs made of microscopic objects at high magnification so that the subject is many times life-size, is also considered macro photography in common usage. For this assignment, true macro, common-use macro, and micro photography will be acceptable entries.Macro Photography Lesson
