Forum Redesign

The forum is getting a facelift! A new look is coming to the forum with some exciting new features! The redesign is scheduled to launch withing the next few days.

Information about the Forum Redesign

About.com's new forum design features some important improvements:

• A more attractive look: The clean design is pleasing to the eye
• Easier access to popular features: Popular options like personal signatures and file attachments are easier to use
• Subscription options: Get daily or weekly email notifications when new messages are posted to the forum
• More information about messages: The main forum page lists the name of the person who posted the message and the number of times the message has been viewed
• More personalization: Larger profile photos are displayed next to messages, along with participation statistics (number of messages the member has posted to the forum and time of last visit)

Although the redesign looks better and is easier to use, we want to reassure forum users that the redesign does not change basic functionality:

• No messages will be lost. All messages that have been posted to the forum will be displayed in their forum folders.
• The message display page lists message titles and offers the option to change the display to list all messages, recent messages, etc.
• Posting messages is easier than before. The big new REPLY button makes it easier to post a response. If you're starting a new conversation, you won't be prompted to select a folder.
• Forum URLs remain the same. If you've bookmarked your forum, you will still be able to access it via your browser's bookmarks.
• If you've created a personal signature line or uploaded a profile photo, your work won't be lost. It will be displayed on the messages you post.
