Photography Lighting
Thursday December 13, 2007
With this week's assignment being about lights and light itself, now is a good time to review some basics about lighting in photography. The amount of light, color of light, and direction of light can all greatly affect an image. Orange tones tend to give a warm feeling to an image. Lighting from below can add a spooky feel (as we learned in our Halloween photography tips). Flash can add light to an otherwise dull image. Almost everything we do as photographers is about controlling or changing light. Take some time to review the basics this week and watch as your images transform with light.

You are correct. After 25 years as a photographer, the ability to see the light is far more important than which feature your camera has.
